Do You See What I See?
Everyone has a story. And every person’s story is marked by peaks and valleys. How we deal with our circumstances is what makes us who we are. Picture life like an hourglass.... at times the glass is full and life couldn’t be better, and then, the hourglass gets squeezed and life takes on a new perspective. Our desire is to tell the story of real people, who in the midst of their trials, have discovered the hope, peace, joy and love, promised in the birth of Jesus, and understand the way, the truth and the abundent life.
During this Advent Season we're telling these stories in our four-part television mini-series, “Do you See What I See?” Dr. Bruce Boria, Senior Pastor of Bethany Church, interviews congregants whose lives reveal a spiritual transformation. In Pastor Bruce’s words, “So few people come to church these days. I believe that if they saw the church from my perspective, it would truly be a blessing. Every Sunday I look out on a congregation and see more than just faces. I know the story behind those faces. I know how God has worked in their lives and how he has met them at significant crossroads. I am keenly aware of their tremendous challenges and yet, I know the rest of the story. I know that Jesus has made a difference in their lives. I want others to see what I see”.
These are the stories we tell on “Do You See What I See?" People who lives demonstrate their journey to Hope, Peace, Joy.
In this first episode, Dr. Bruce Boria interviews Mitch Brook, who shares an intimate story of his life and where God met him at significant crossroads. Mitch shares his walk with Jesus and his heart warming feelings on Hope. Videotaped earlier this year, Mitch generously agreed to share his story to encourage others when "Hope" may not feel like an option. This talented musician and awesome friend to many, went "home" on September 11. You will find that this gift left behind of "Hope Unwrapped", may just have your name on it.
EPISODE 2 : "Know Peace" featuring Linda Bullis and Lloyd Rosenberg
“Peace on Earth, Goodwill toward Men”- During the Christmas season these words appear everywhere you look. Yet, peace is elusive. We long for peace because we know that in its absence our hearts are troubled. For anyone who has celebrated a good number of birthdays, you know all too well how life can be scarred by disappointments, troubles, and fears. Regrettably, these past experiences also rob us of peace. However, we're confident that, even in the face of life’s difficulties, we can experience a peace that passes all understanding. We share with you the stories of two people who discovered peace on earth and goodwill toward men.
EPISODE 3 : "Joy, Inexpressible" featuring Steve Bailey and Tonia Patton
Joy to the World the Lord has come. Let earth receive her King.
Issac Watts wrote "Joy to the World" to emphasize the joy that the birth of Jesus brought to mankind. But it's hard to sing this song when your heart is heavy; when you heart is broken.
In this episode we will find the key for finding such joy. It's rather simple: Let every heart prepare Him room.

"For those who watch this video and never knew Mitch, I don't know how they could not be deeply moved by his life story and testimony of Hope. Even though his medical prognosis was not good, what came across the most to me in this video was the inner peace Mitch had. That inner peace is a gift that everyone would like to possess, a gift that can only come from knowing and following the Lord."
"This was undoubtedly the most moving video I have seen coming out of Bethany Church. Mitch’s story of pain, and mistakes made in life, that were later compensated through the Grace of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ are truly a witness to Him. Mitch’s deep and abiding love for his wife Karen, and his resulting faith in his Lord are a true testament of how Jesus Christ is able to change each and every one of us, from the inside out! The message of compassion, love and faith are outstanding! "
