We live in an increasingly secular society. Is anyone surprised when Jesus is depicted as a mere caricature of what he purported himself to be?  The reason for this is obvious: Jesus has been removed from His moorings in scripture. As followers of Jesus, we will also encounter our fair share of resistance. However, unlike our Lord Jesus, this derision may be fueled by behavior that is incongruent with the life of Jesus. For this reason, I believe it is imperative for Christians to close the gap between the life of Jesus and the life we live as believers. The book of First Peter will prove to be a faithful guide in this process.
