September 2026 Issue 1

For many of us, the Bible sits on a shelf or a nightstand, respected but largely untouched. We believe it matters, but we're not quite sure what to do with it beyond the occasional reading plan we abandon by February. Yet Scripture is not passive. Jesus treated it as the foundation of everything He taught, and the weapon He reached for to combat distortions with truth. The early church devoted themselves to it. The psalmist called it sweeter than honey. Something has been lost between their experience of God's Word and ours. This series, PRACTICE MAKES PROGRESS, is an invitation to recover it.

The Bethany Church App
Coming September 13th
This fall, we will be relaunching our website, our giving platform, and releasing our new Bethany Church App! Our website will become the front-door for those who are checking out Bethany for the first time, and the app was designed for our Bethany Church family to connect and grow with ease!
Each week until our launch on September 13th, we will reveal a new element of the app to you, so you can see how it was designed to be your tool to stay connected to Bethany all week long! This video will give you a sneak peak at what's to come.
For more information, and to stay up to date on the latest features of our app, click here.

Students EncounterGod Weekend
September 11th - 12th | Greenland Campus
Students are invited to a Youth-specific EncounterGod Weekend at our Greenland Campus! You'll hear honest stories from ordinary people who've experienced real freedom through Jesus. No hype-just real people sharing how God met them and changed their lives. The heart of the weekend is to bring the things that weigh us down to Jesus at the Cross, and to let the Holy Spirit bring freedom, healing, and a deeper sense of who you really are as a son or daughter of God.

Please join us in prayer this week for:
Bob and Bobbie Clinton working with First Love Ministries in India and Nepal:
We've all seen reports on the flooding in Nepal (and China). It's devastating.
Remembering that we have brothers and sisters in Christ in such places of devastation changes everything. We may not know their faces, but one day we will spend eternity with them. Who knows what today's prayers might make possible in their present suffering? One thing we share with them is God's Spirit within us, so let's pray.
Father, Thank You that You are in Nepal just as You are here with us. Thank You that You hear the cries of your people. You know where each soul is and what each soul needs. We as You to make a straight path before rescuers. Lead them to those who are trapped, in need, praying to be found. We pray for the many organizations that are responding to this present crisis. Many Christians are going to help and carrying Your Spirit with them. We pray for Your light to shine on Nepal and for Your name to be glorified.
We especially lift up the many churches that have been destroyed and who have lost many or all of their members. We pray for the pastors and those who remain, that You would heal them for the trauma they've experienced and give them hope. We as You to draw them together in that hope and in Your strength. May their hands and feet be Your hands and feet to help meet the needs of others around them.
Finally, we pray for Bob Clinton and First Love Ministries. Bob flew to Delhi on Monday and will arrive in Nepal in about 10 days. We ask You to show them ways that First Love can be of help - especially to the children and widows.
Thank You for Your great love for ALL Your children, around the world. Amen.
