October 2026 Issue 1

Practice Makes Progress
Our new series, A Dream Worth Building, walks through the Old Testament book of Haggai — ten weeks tracing one exhausted, overcommitted community's honest journey from misplaced priority to real hope. This is an invitation to build something that’ll stand for years to come.

Baptism Classes

Baptism Sunday is November 1st!
Baptism is an external sign of internal faith, and a way of saying to the world that you are taking the next step in your faith journey, and that you will live for Jesus. Here at Bethany, baptisms take place twice a year and a mandatory class is required explaining the purpose behind baptism.

Grief Share & Divorce Care

Two of Bethany's flagship support groups - GriefShare and DivorceCare - are underway now, and it's never too late to join.

Shay Lavery and George Bukow are wonderfully compassionate GriefShare facilitators who've each lost spouses and understand the pain of grief. They've also experienced healing and restoration, and bring all of this to bear in a group that offers mutual Christ-centered care and support during a time of bereavement.

Scott McKinney brings a tender and kind approach to guiding individuals in a group setting through the complex challenges of divorce.

Both programs utilize the best of pastoral, clinical, and peer-based insights in a workbook and video-style teaching that stimulates personal and group reflection.

If you're hurting from the loss of a loved one, register for GriefShare here.
If you're going through or recovering from a divorce, register for DivorceCare here.

EncounterGod Weekend Recap

Bethany’s Encounter God Weekend was a real success last weekend.
A total of 84 attended, 32 of whom served on our prayer ministry team.
7 folks from Bethany read their wonderful testimonies of God’s healing and restorative work, 6 of which were the first time given!

One first-time team member had this to say about her serving opportunity:
“The love shared at EGW is just phenomenal. I love and appreciate the judgement-free zone, which makes sharing and praying feel fully complete; nothing needs to be held back. Everything about EGW is just awesome! As an apprentice prayer minister, having the training and opportunity to pray for others really built my confidence a lot!”

Grow in your ability to pray for others by attending Bethany’s Encounter Equip November 19-21, 2026 at the Greenland Campus! Register here!
Please join us in prayer this week for:

ChildVoice in Uganda, Sudan and Nigeria helping children affected by war:
Pray for ChildVoice as they minister to traumatized children. Pray against the Ebola epidemic and its growing effects on the population in northern DRC and the western Uganda border. More funds are needed to fulfill their budgetary needs for this year.

Nancy Kilpatrick working in Uganda and at CIT in NC:
Nancy continues to watch God pull together a grass roots ministry in Trauma Care in East Africa. She reports progress made in “the establishment of the East Africa Trauma Care Network, a coalition of Ugandan, South Sudanese, Congolese, and American pastors and trauma care facilitators to promote trauma care ministry as an arm of the Church throughout East Africa.” She requests prayer for:
Wisdom as she looks to the Lord to direct her steps in this process
A trip to Uganda planned for November so she can train facilitators in Trauma Healing
Members of her SC church who will be joining her for this trip
Good health and energy as she leads these endeavors
